Ukrainian Military Establishes Interceptor Drone Divisions

In Ukraine, divisions and units armed with interceptor drones are being set up within training centers to target Russian Shahed drones.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported this.

He explained that, as part of a layered air defense system, interception lines are being established away from major cities.

“We continue forming separate air defense UAV divisions. We are establishing permanent units of interceptor drones within training grounds (training centers),” said the Commander-in-Chief.

Syrskyi emphasized that the key task at this stage is strengthening the interceptor drone direction.

In addition, this includes increasing the number of such UAVs, ground control stations, and radar systems, as well as expanding and improving the training of crews.

He noted that the use of interceptor drones is gradually increasing, along with their effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Syrskyi added that additional resources from army aviation and light aviation, supported by international partners, are being involved to counter Russian Shahed drones.
