Ukrainian artillery is inflicting significant losses on Russian invasion forces in various areas of the frontline.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showcased the fire mission of the marine gunners.

The military released a video demonstrating the М777 towed howitzers hitting the enemy.

Artillery strikes were carried out by the servicemen of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade named after the General-Standard-Bearer Oleksiy Almazov.

The video uncovers all the stages of preparing for a fire mission: moving to fire positions, deployment and preparation for fire at targets detected by aerial reconnaissance, and the defeat of Russian positions with military equipment.

The 155mm M777 towed howitzer with a barrel length of 39 calibers has a range of 24 kilometers when ordinary artillery rounds are used.

This artillery weapon is part of a military aid package to defend against the full-scale Russian invasion that began in February this year.

М777 is a 155 mm howitzer with manual loading and a rate of fire of up to five rounds per minute. Depending on the type of projectile used, the howitzer has a range of between 24 and 30 kilometers.

This makes it possible to gain the advantage over Soviet-era howitzers used by Russia in its war against Ukraine.

Last month, it was reported that the United States will provide Ukraine with 1000 precision-guided ammunition for 155-mm artillery as part of a new military assistance package worth USD 400 million.

Back then, the American official refused to name the type of ammunition and to clarify whether this regards the Excalibur M982. However, it reported that the ammunition has “the same capabilities” as the Excalibur, which is guided by GPS.

A Biden administration official shared that the precision-guided munitions should help Ukrainians save ammunition. The shot accuracy will also be instrumental in avoiding the destruction of non-military facilities and casualties among non-combatants, in contrast to the Russian tactics of massive shelling of the squares.
