Ukrainian kamikaze drones have targeted a Russian defense facility in Murom, a city nearly 700 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
This was reported by the independent outlet ASTRA.
The overnight strike on May 27 hit the Murom Instrument-Making Plant.
According to the report, 11 drones were involved in the operation. Three were shot down, while the others struck their intended targets.
Multiple explosions were heard at the site. Around 70 workers were evacuated to bomb shelters.
While the full extent of the damage is unclear, the blast reportedly shattered windows and doors in two workshops.
The governor of Russia’s Vladimir region, Alexander Avdeev, confirmed that three buildings in the industrial zone were damaged.
A previous attack on the same plant was reported on April 30, when a fire broke out in a warehouse covering 720 square meters.
Russian authorities attributed the incident to falling drones that had allegedly been neutralized by electronic warfare systems.
Satellite imagery and photos later confirmed the facility was completely destroyed.
The Murom Instrument-Making Plant is Russia’s largest producer of ammunition primers and supplies the Russian military.
It is part of the Tekhmash division within the Rostec state corporation. The plant has been under Ukrainian and EU sanctions since 2023.
