Ukrainian intelligence units struck a Russian train carrying fuel for military equipment in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, according to officials and open-source imagery.
Activist Petro Andriushchenko published a photo showing several fuel tanks ablaze following the strike by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU).
“Right now, the Defense Forces have hit and are finishing off a Russian tank train on a railway section between the village of Levadne and the city of Molochansk, Tokmak district, Zaporizhzhia region,” Andriushchenko reported.
He added that the published image does not capture the full extent of the damage.
“As of now, 11 fuel tanks are burning. Smoke is visible from 15–20 km away. Locals confirm the main outcome — a break in the railway line. Repairs will take a couple of weeks, which means no fuel deliveries to the front for that period,” he said.
Fires of this scale can also damage rail infrastructure, requiring time for repairs. Still, railways are often restored quickly unless complex structures like bridges are affected or the area is under constant fire.
Open-source analyst @moklasen on X verified the location near Molochansk, more than 35 km from the current front line.
It is not the first time such strikes have occurred on this railway segment. On May 24, a drone unit from DIU struck another Russian train transporting fuel on the Verkhniy Tokmak–Molochansk–Fedorivka line.
According to the CyberBoroshno community, the strike targeted a train near the village of Novobohdanivka in Melitopol district, about 50 km from the front line. At least three fuel tanks were destroyed.
Such attacks aim to disrupt Russian logistics, which heavily depend on rail to move fuel and equipment to the front.
