Ukrainian General Staff: Russians Amass 200 Troops in Pokrovsk

Russian troops have managed to amass around 200 servicemen in the city of Pokrovsk, who are expected to operate against units of the Defense Forces.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on this.

The statement outlines that Russian forces, taking advantage of gaps between defensive positions and advancing in small infantry groups, were able to enter the city and concentrate their personnel there.

Intense small-arms battles are currently raging in the city, as the Ukrainian Defense Forces repel the enemy’s attempts to establish positions within the urban area.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are taking active and comprehensive measures to stabilize the situation and prevent further enemy advances – including counter-sabotage operations and fire strikes.

At the same time, the situation in the Pokrovsk sector remains tense. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Defense Forces units have repelled 76 enemy assault attempts near the following settlements: Shakhove, Volodymyrivka, Pankivka, Mayak, Sukhyi Yar, Zvirove, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Promin, Balahan, Novopavlivka, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Novomykolaivka, Filiia, and Dachne.

In the summer of 2025, the defense of Pokrovsk was placed under the responsibility of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces, which was tasked with stabilizing the situation on the approaches to the city and in its suburbs.

The enemy continues its attempts to break through the defenses: on just one day in August, Russian forces conducted at least 27 attacks in the Pokrovsk sector. Ukrainian units continue to actively hold back the enemy’s advance.

One of the key elements of the defense is the 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment, which in late July and early August reported eliminating a group of invaders who had tried to establish positions within Pokrovsk, as well as neutralizing an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group.

The fighting remains intense: the enemy is attempting to exploit gaps in the defensive positions and is using buildings as strongpoints.

For example, during one of the operations, an enemy infantry group was lured into a deep trench and destroyed using drones, grenades, and small-arms fire.

In October, operators of the 3rd Special Operations Forces Regiment cleared the industrial zone in the Pokrovsk sector of a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group and captured a prisoner.
