Ukrainian Forces Repel Mechanized Assault Involving Dozens of Vehicles Near Pokrovsk

The Ukrainian Defense Forces defeated a massive mechanized assault in the Dobropillia sector near Pokrovsk. The invaders used 24 armored vehicles and several dozen motorcycles and ATVs to try to break through the Ukrainian defense.

This was reported by the commander of the USF Robert “Magyar” Brovdi and the press service of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU).

According to the commander of the USF, the basis of the Russian forces that conducted the unsuccessful assault were the 40th and 155th Marine Brigades of the Russian Federation along with their attached units.

“24 armor units (tanks, armored personnel carriers, armored vehicles) and several dozen motorized/quad vehicles were destroyed by joint efforts, forces and means of the 1st Azov Corps (NGU), attached units and the Birds of the USF Group. We did it in one hundred minutes, guys!” said Magyar.

According to the soldiers of the Svoboda battalion, which is part of the 4th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, who published a video of the destruction of the enemy assault group, the enemy “entered the area with four convoys of vehicles, confident that they would get through.”

The full range of means was involved in the defense: UAVs of various types, artillery, MLRS and even HIMARS. In addition, remote mining by drones of Lasar’s Group and engineering units of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard played a major role.

According to a Kriegsforscher fighter on X, the attack took place near Pokrovsk in the direction of Razine, which is confirmed by the geolocation of the video published by the observers.

According to available information, the attackers were eliminated and stopped mainly with the help of cannon and rocket artillery and mines planted by drones.

According to the General Staff, as of 16:00 on December 22, in the Pokrovsk sector, Russian invaders have made 33 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions since the beginning of the day.

According to the press service of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard, the Defense Forces destroyed 6 tanks, 9 infantry fighting vehicles, 5 armored personnel carriers, and 1 armored personnel carrier. The final wave of the enemy attack was an assault using ATVs. Out of 11 units of motorized vehicles, 10 were destroyed. One left the battlefield.

“We thank all units in the defense line of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard for their contribution to repelling the enemy’s massive attack – first of all, the soldiers of the separate special forces unit of the National Guard “Lasar’s Group” and the Unmanned Systems Forces. The elimination of enemy personnel who participated in the assault continues,” the press service said.

Previously, it was reported that in early December, the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet was reorganized into the 55th Marine Division.
