The Ukrainian Defense Forces used a Ukrainian-made missile to strike the temporary basing point of the 92nd Riverboat Brigade of the Russian Dnipro River Flotilla, which is located in the village of Olenivka in Crimea.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“A Ukrainian-made missile also hit the temporary basing point of the 92nd Riverboat Brigade in Olenivka (temporarily occupied Ukrainian Crimea). A significant fire was observed at the site of the strike. The extent of the damage is being clarified,” the ministry said.
In March 2024, then-Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the formation of the Dnipro River Flotilla and a brigade of river boats of the flotilla. He added that the new formation would be responsible for protecting the Dnipro estuary and islands.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Russia plans for the Dnipro flotilla to consist of two brigades of river boats. The brigades, numbered 91 and 92, are to be four- and three-division, respectively. The headquarters and command posts of the flotilla and brigades are located in Crimea, in the villages of Myrnyi and Chornomorske.
The flotilla is expected to include up to 400 vessels and be manned by more than two thousand military personnel. The flotilla is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, but according to Ukrainian intelligence, this is unlikely to be achieved.
According to journalists, as of the beginning of 2025, in addition to the boats requisitioned from the local population in the occupied territories, the flotilla was armed with Raptor, Grachonok, and Tunets boats, which were delivered by land through Crimea.
It is known that as of the beginning of 2025, special equipment and personnel of one of the divisions of the 91st Riverboat Brigade were based on the Tarkhankutsky Peninsula, in the village of Olenivka. There, they underwent combat training, including assault units’ waterborne training to overcome water obstacles.
The flotilla, in particular, patrols and provides logistical support within the Kinburn and Tendra Spits, goes to the outer raid of Sevastopol, and also carries out anti-sabotage defense.
In addition, the boats are involved in the rotation of personnel from Crimea and logistical support of the Russian unit on Dovgy Island.
As a reminder, as a result of a missile attack by Flamingo cruise missiles on an FSB outpost in Crimea near Armyansk in late August 2025, six hovercraft patrol boats were damaged.
It was not reported which boats were damaged. However, it is known that FSB border detachments in northern Crimea use hovercrafts of the A-8 Khivus project, which can carry up to eight people, and A25PS with a capacity of 30-50 people.
