Ukraine struck the facilities of the 40th Command and Measurement Complex, which coordinates the Russian Aerospace Forces’ space assets, according to the Dosye Shpyona Telegram channel.
On the night of September 10, drones targeted the headquarters and communications center on the complex’s grounds (military unit 81415).
Reconnaissance footage recorded the aftermath of the strikes.
The released images show two hits and the failed operation of a Pantsir-S1 air defense system covering the strategic facility.
This is the second attack on the Crimean Space Communications Center. Earlier in the month, Ghosts special forces unit used strike drones to hit the RT-70 radio telescope and several “Utes-T” radars.
Located a few dozen kilometers from Yevpatoria, the Center was built during the Soviet era and, after Russia’s occupation, became part of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces. It manages orbital spacecraft and monitors outer space.
In December 2014, a “jamming-resistant information and computing system” was commissioned, enabling the correction of program and timing tasks for the GLONASS satellite system. The system collects data from the orbital network, compares it with information from other regions, and adjusts measurement accuracy and coordinates. It also supports navigation for Russian military aviation.
