On the night of January 12, Ukrainian drones struck the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant in the Rostov region.
Videos showing the fire at the plant were shared by the Supernova+ and Exilenova+ Telegram channels.
The attack caused power outages in the region.
The Novocherkassk State District Power Plant has an installed electrical capacity of about 2,250 MW. The plant consists of several power units that supply a significant portion of the region’s energy needs.
The main fuel for the plant’s operation is coal, while natural gas is used as a backup and additional fuel.
Ukraine has repeatedly struck this plant. The most recent attack occurred in July 2025, when one of the drones hit the main building, causing minor damage. The affected area is located near the railway track used by trains.
A strike was also recorded in March 2024. At that time, a fire at the transformer substation caused the temporary shutdown of two power units.
