“Ukrainian Defense Industry” Joint-Stock Company Signs Memorandum to Localize Spanish Combat Modules in Ukraine

One of the enterprises of the “Ukrainian Defense Industry” Joint-Stock Company has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Spanish company Escribano Mechanical & Engineering, which specializes in the production of modern combat modules.

The press service of the “Ukrainian Defense Industry” Joint-Stock Company reported on this.

As part of the partnership, the agreement includes the maintenance and repair of Spanish-made combat modules, joint development of new weapon systems, and licensed production of this equipment at Ukrainian enterprises.

Specialists from the “Ukrainian Defense Industry” Joint-Stock Company are already working on the integration of Escribano combat modules into Soviet-era armored vehicles that are in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Spanish modules are also already being installed on both domestic and Western-made armored vehicles.

In particular, the combat module from Escribano has been integrated into the Ukrainian Kozak-5 armored vehicle.

The modules are equipped with modern optoelectronic systems, including day and infrared cameras with autofocus, a laser rangefinder, and an automatic target tracking function that takes ballistic corrections into account.

The module is controlled via a control panel installed directly in the combat vehicle.

Escribano’s combat modules are also being installed on M113 armored personnel carriers, which Ukraine received as part of international assistance.

Furthermore, the company’s systems have demonstrated effectiveness in combating drones.

In 2023, the company successfully tested its combat modules in scenarios aimed at countering drones, opening up prospects for their active use on the modern battlefield.

It was recently reported that the “Ukrainian Defense Industry” Joint-Stock Company signed a memorandum of cooperation with Rheinmetall, which includes the possibility of creating another joint venture.
