On May 4, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian radio equipment manufacturer Strela in the Suzemka district of the Bryansk region, according to the Astra independent media outlet.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted the Strela plant with Grad MLRS. Both the workshop and the administrative building were on fire. According to preliminary information, the plant is destroyed,” the report stated.
Videos shared by local residents showed a large fire engulfing parts of the facility.
Russian media reported that two security guards were injured in the strike and received medical treatment for minor injuries.
The governor of the Bryansk region confirmed the attack and the destruction of production and administrative buildings on the site.
According to publicly available sources, the Strela plant manufactures radar and radio components, including transformers, chokes, coils, and interference filters.
It is a contractor for Russia’s state defense conglomerate Rostec — specifically, the High-Precision Complexes JSC — and other entities within the Russian military industry.
Financial disclosures indicate that Strela has executed contracts with several Russian defense enterprises, including Ferrite-Domen Scientific Research Institute (focused on communications and radar development), Concern CSRI Elektropribor (specialized communications systems), and the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol, which produces Tor surface-to-air missile systems.
It has also worked with the JSC Ryazan Design Bureau Globus, part of the Tactical Missiles Corporation.
According to Russian procurement records, Strela has carried out 124 state contracts totaling 172.6 million rubles.
This is the second confirmed Ukrainian strike on the facility. On November 30, 2024, a previous attack damaged production workshops, a warehouse for finished goods, and administrative premises.
