Cyber specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), along with their comrades from the Defense Forces, successfully targeted the enemy’s Zoopark radar.

This was reported by the SSU press service.

Special forces of the Ukrainian Cybersecurity Department targeted the Russian radar with several FPV drones.

It is reported that the Russians placed several Zoopark mock-ups next to the well-camouflaged radar, but this did not protect the real radar from being targeted.

During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the Russians repeatedly lost counter-battery radar of this type.

Data from the Oryx OSINT service shows that the Russians lost two Zoopark (1L219), four Zoopark-1 (1L259) and twelve Zoopark-1M (1L261) radars.

Militarnyi reported the destruction of the Zoopark-1 (1L259) on May 23, 2024. Then the aerial reconnaissance unit discovered the Russian radar using a reconnaissance drone.

After identifying the target, the unit transferred the coordinates of the discovered object to the operators of the HIMARS missile system, which struck accurately and destroyed the GMLRS guided missile installation.

Zoopark-1

Zoopark-1 is a Russian radar reconnaissance and fire control radar. It is designed for reconnaissance and fire detection of ground artillery systems: barrel artillery and MLRS.

The system determines artillery positions using radar, detecting the flight path of various ammunition during fire. It can also be used to adjust the fire of its own artillery.

The radar station is based on the chassis of the MT-LB multipurpose tracked platform. The radar itself has a phased antenna array that can detect up to 70 positions per minute and simultaneously track up to four targets.

The manufacturer claims that the counter-battery radar is capable of detecting positions of 120mm mortars at a distance of 17 kilometers, 105mm and 155mm howitzers – up to 12 kilometers, and launches from multiple launch rocket systems of the BM-21 Grad and BM-27 Uragan type – at a distance of 40-45 kilometers.
