The cadets of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy” have started an internship on the training vessel ORP Wodnik of the Polish Navy.
The press service of the university reported on this.
Ukrainians undergo maritime practice together with their Polish colleagues.
During the internship, they learn navigation, astronavigation, hydrometeorology and maneuvering skills, and get acquainted with the organization of the ship’s service.
In addition, the cadets get acquainted with the ship’s main technical facilities and improve their English language skills.
The cadets also practice other maritime training skills.
The ORP Wodnik training vessel, which belongs to the Polish Navy Academy, is designed for long voyages and training trips.
The ship is just over 72 meters long, almost 12 meters wide and has a draft of 4.2 meters. It can reach speeds of up to 17 knots and has an autonomous cruising range of 30 days.
Thousands of cadets from the Polish Naval Academy were trained there.
The university said that the ORP Wodnik had taken part in Operation Desert Storm as a hospital ship in the waters of the Persian Gulf in 1991.
Another group of Ukrainian cadets is undergoing an internship on the Polish training ship ORP Iskra. They are practically familiarizing themselves with the organization of the ship’s service and mastering the basic technical means of sailing. They also learn the rules of maneuvering ships and vessels.
Ukrainian cadets are trained on the Polish sailing ship ORP Iskra on a regular basis. It is carried out within the framework of the international cooperation.
