As part of the Steel Front initiative, Metinvest Group has handed over the latest batch of buggy vehicles to the Ukrainian army.
This was reported on the official website of Metinvest.
The 24 buggy vehicles were the last batch of this type of vehicle transferred to the military.
In total, since 2023, 149 vehicles have been handed over and are currently being used by Ukrainian defenders on the front lines.
It should be noted that the production of the vehicles began in 2023, following a request from the Operational Command South.
Despite the minimal level of protection, the vehicles are perfect for sabotage raids and reconnaissance.
The vehicles are capable of driving off-road at high speeds, which is a great advantage for rapid deployment.
According to Metinvest, the first batch of ten buggies required 3.8 tons of rolled steel.
“The advantage at the front largely depends on the availability of efficient vehicles, in particular, fast, maneuverable, simple and reliable mini-cars. Recognizing this need of Ukrainian soldiers, over a year ago we started cooperating with the Southern Operational Command and shipping our metal for the production of buggies. This work is still ongoing,” said Oleksandr Palamarchuk, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest SMC.
Previously, Militarnyi reported that, as part of the Steel Front initiative, Metinvest Group has built more than 200 kilometers of fortifications in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia directions.
To ensure proper construction techniques, the company’s specialists carried out construction jointly with the military and civil-military administrations in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia areas.
The company also provides special equipment for the construction of defense lines to prevent the enemy’s advance.
