The Ukrainian AN-32P aircraft is assisting in extinguishing fires in Montenegro with the support of the UAE.
The press service of the company XENA reported on this.
The agreements regarding the mission were reached following negotiations between Milojko Spajić, Montenegro’s Prime Minister, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Initially, the parties discussed the short-term use of two Black Hawk helicopters, but due to the complicated situation, they decided to expand the mission and extend its duration.
According to Spajić, all expenses, including fuel and payment for the work of the Ukrainian crew, were covered by the United Arab Emirates.
The company XENA, founded in 2019, is a pioneer in commercial aerial firefighting using AN-32P aircraft.
Its crews, mainly composed of former military pilots with over 20 years of experience, already have successful experience in firefighting in Türkiye and Georgia. Since 2021, they have made over 900 flights and delivered over 7 million liters of water for forest fire suppression in Türkiye alone.
