According to the military, on the night of June 24, Russia carried out a missile attack on the territory of Ukraine with air-launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 bombers, Kalibr missiles and Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones.

10 Russian strategic bombers launched 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea region.

Also, eight Tu-22M3 long-range bombers struck with 9 Kh-22 supersonic missiles from the north, south and east, which they had directed towards the Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih.

“These missiles (Kh-22- ed.) have not yet shoot down in Ukraine. Although this missile is called a cruise one, it flies and hits the target along a ballistic trajectory. In other words, we need means that are able to shoot it down, such as Patriot, perhaps SAMP-T,” Yurii Ihnat, Spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said on the air of the United News telethon.

The Kh-22 air-launched missile has a warhead mass of about 950 kilograms. The maximum range is up to 600 kilometers. When used from long distances, the deviation from the target can be hundreds of meters.

In addition, the Russians launched two Kalibr naval cruise missiles from the Black Sea. From the south, the invaders attacked Ukraine with two Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones.

The Air Force reported that, as a result of the combat work, all 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, one Kalibr cruise missile and two Shahed-136/131 drones were shot down by air defense forces.

Anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, mobile fire groups of the “Center”, “South” and “East” Air Commands of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the air attack.

In Kyiv, three people were killed as a result of missile wreckage falling into a 25-story residential building in the Solomiansky district, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko said. Also, 14 people sought medical help.
