In 2026, Ukraine will receive the first ordered CV90 infantry fighting vehicles made in the Netherlands.
Defence News reported on this.
The Netherlands is investing more than EUR 400 million in a Swedish fund to ensure the production of CV90 combat vehicles for Ukraine.
This investment from the government will also cover the acquisition of a share of the armored vehicles, which are planned to be produced in the Netherlands.
Currently, the governments of the Netherlands and Sweden have agreed to produce CV90 combat vehicles in the Netherlands, which will involve a large number of local companies.
“Negotiations are ongoing with Van Halteren Technologies and a ‘whole chain’ of Dutch suppliers who will handle an ‘important part’ of the production,” said spokesman Kai Liers.
It is expected that the total number of partially manufactured machines in the Netherlands will amount to 180 units.
“Van Halteren will play an ‘important role’ in supplying dozens of new CV90s to Ukraine, Sweden, and possibly Denmark, which are buying the vehicles to the same modernized standard as the Netherlands,” Christoph van der Maat, Dutch Secretary of State for Defense, reported.
He also noted that due to the large portfolio from European countries, the Netherlands wants to play a significant role in accelerating the delivery of these vehicles to customers, including Ukraine.
“We want to really help the Dutch know-how to meet the growing demand for CV90 combat vehicles in Europe,” Van der Maat said.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Netherlands joined the initiative of Denmark and Sweden to purchase CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine.
In addition, Ukraine and Sweden declared their intentions to jointly produce CV90 infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine.
