Ukraine’s Liut Brigade Receives Spanish BMR M-600 Armored Personnel Carriers

Ukraine’s National Police Liut Joint Assault Brigade has received Spanish Pegaso BMR M-600 armored personnel carriers, according to the military-focused Telegram channel Tysk.

A published photo shows the vehicle equipped with an anti-drone cage — a so-called grill — providing 360-degree protection and access hatches for both crew and troops.

Due to the angle of the image, the exact variant of the BMR is unclear, but it appears to be a BMR-600 VRAC, a chemical reconnaissance version previously spotted in Ukraine.

Back in January 2024, Spain transferred medical variants of the BMR M-600 to Ukraine, modernized by the Spanish company TECNOVE.

At the time, there were no official reports of combat-configured BMRs being delivered.

However, it is possible that Spain has included a certain number of the standard troop-carrier variants in recent aid packages.

Pegaso BMR M-600

The BMR-600 is a 6×6 wheeled armored personnel carrier developed by Spain in the early 1970s, with serial production starting in 1979.

Amphibious and available in various configurations, it remains one of the primary APCs used by the Spanish Army and has been exported to multiple countries.

The standard BMR-600 carries 11 troops and has a two-person crew — a driver and a gunner.

Its hull is made of aluminum armor. The driver sits at the front-left of the vehicle, with the engine and transmission compartment to the right.

The troop compartment is located at the rear and can be accessed via a ramp with integrated doors. There are also two roof hatches above the troop area for emergency exit or use of personal weapons.

The vehicle is powered by a 310-horsepower Pegaso 9157/8 diesel engine, reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. It features an automatic transmission with six forward gears and one reverse, with the front two axles steerable.

The BMR-600 is amphibious, with water propulsion provided by the wheels. Some versions allow for the installation of twin water jets at the rear, enabling speeds of up to 9 km/h in water.
