Italian VCC-2 tracked armored personnel carriers have been put into service with the newly formed “Donechchyna” Special Forces Battalion of the National Police of Ukraine.
This was noticed by armored vehicle history researcher, Andriy Tarasenko.
The VCC-2 is an Italian variation of the American M113A1 tracked armored personnel carrier, which features an additional 6 mm of armor on the sides.
In addition, each side of the Italian APC has two gunports and two armored glass windows.
The VCC-2 can also be identified by its open-type machine gun turret. It is known that the Italians have converted from 1160 to 1200 M113A1 armored personnel carriers into VCC-2.
Previously, on June 7, Militarny reported that the National Police’s Lyut brigade received these APCs.
Recently, a newly formed rifle battalion from the Donetsk region’s Special Forces Police has been deployed to the front line to carry out combat missions.
The Special Police Battalion includes officers of various services: operatives, investigators, district officers, etc.
All the volunteers have experience working under bombardment, and some have been involved in combat operations since 2014.
The police officers joined the unit to defend Ukraine and liberate their land from the invaders.
The policemen were trained by instructors from the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
They’ve been trained at a training ground in conditions close to combat.
