The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has started contracting Ai-Petri SV counterintelligence systems, according to MP and volunteer Petro Poroshenko.

The Defense Ministry has ordered several dozen of these systems, confirming their effectiveness and necessity on the front lines.

“This is proof of their quality and importance. At the same time, we will continue production and supply at our own expense,” Poroshenko stated.

By the end of December 2024, Ukraine’s Defense Forces had received 90 Ai-Petri SV systems, protecting thousands of kilometers along the contact line.

The Ai-Petri SV detects the positions of Russian UAV operators and disorients FPV drones.

The system includes an electronic warfare station, a modern radar, and an anti-drone device. It also includes satellite terminals, charging stations, generators, and pickup trucks.

The system presumably uses laser emitters capable of blinding the optical systems of enemy drones.

EW ​​production in Ukraine

As of February 2025, more than 140 Ukrainian companies manufacture electronic warfare (EW) equipment for the military.

To support production, Ukraine has simplified regulations, fostered competition, and introduced systemic government contracts for EW technology.

The Brave1 defense technology cluster has issued 19 grants totaling UAH 22.8 million to Ukrainian companies for EW development.

In October, the Ministry of Defense reported that since January 2024, the Defense Procurement Agency has contracted the supply of electronic warfare equipment worth over UAH 6 billion. In total, more than 11,000 electronic warfare equipment have been contracted. Most of them are produced in Ukraine.

In September-October alone, several thousand units worth over UAH 1 billion were contracted, according to the Ministry of Defense.
