Two Ukrainian brigades have received batches of Grey Widow 1 strike drones.
The drone manufacturer – Nebesna Kara – said that the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 164th Signals Intelligence Brigade will receive the drones.
“The loitering munition, also known as GREY WIDOW 1M, is now destroying the invaders’ equipment and the occupiers themselves in the south,” the manufacturer said.
The ‘Kamikaze Wing’ is used to engage enemy targets over long distances.
Where an FPV drone is powerless against distance and enemy electronic warfare, Grey Widow reaches the target and destroys the invaders’ equipment.
These strike drones are said to be maneuverable and fast (up to 120 km/h).
To enable the drone to fly over long distances, it can be paired with a Matrice 300 repeater drone.
This is a stable connection that provides high-quality footage until the target is hit.
“Grey Widow is a sneaky bird that appears where it is not expected and is maneuverable enough to hit targets on the ground, above it, and possibly much higher,” said the drone’s users.
Grey Widow drones are quite popular among charitable foundations and regional administrations, which buy them through a tender.
In July of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution allowing the purchase of domestically produced drones through the closed functionality of the ProZorro system.
With this ruling, manufacturers will have equal access to government contracts, and thanks to competition, the state will be able to purchase drones more profitably. A customer who wants to buy a UAV puts up a frame announcement on ProZorro platform with a description of the drone he wants.
