U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin is scheduled to host an in-person Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting.
The relevant statement was made by the Pentagon.
The third meeting will take place at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, on June 15.
At the meeting Ministers of Defense and Chiefs of Defense from around the world plan to discuss weapons and ammunition needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to resist full-scale Russian aggression.
“Secretary Austin has again invited Ministers of Defense and Chiefs of Defense from around the world to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The opening remarks by the US Secretary of Defense are scheduled for 15:00. The press conference with Secretary Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark A. Milley will be held at 18:45 Central European Time.
Ukraine has also received an invitation to take part in the meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of defense ministers, which will take place on June 15-16 in Brussels.
As previously reported, a virtual meeting of the Defense Ministers of the Ukraine Contact Group was held on May 23. This was their second meeting following the contact group live discussion at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
This time, the 40 participants were joined by Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Colombia, Ireland, and Kosovo.
Oleksii Reznikov, Ukrainian Defense Minister, along with Deputy Commander in Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence representative joined the virtual meeting.
The meeting was split into three sessions. Session one was focused on updated information about current hostilities. Session two involved discussing military supplies to Ukraine. Session three was dedicated to Ukraine’s priority needs.
