On December 20, Ukraine and Portugal signed an agreement on establishing a strategic partnership in the production of unmanned surface vehicles (USVs).

The document was signed together with Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who is on his first official visit to Kyiv.

The parties did not disclose the details of the agreement. It is likely to involve localizing the production of Ukrainian drones in Portugal for the needs of Ukraine and the Portuguese Navy.

As a reminder, in September, Ukrainians tested unmanned surface vehicles in Portugal.

The Ukrainian Magura v7.2, along with two other Ukrainian naval drones, took part in the REPMUS military exercises organized by NATO countries.

Also in November, Greek Prime Minister Kyriákos Mitsotákis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to launch joint production of unmanned surface vehicles at Greek shipbuilding companies.

The project will involve Ukrainian and Greek defense companies, and some of the technologies will be developed in Greece.
