On the night of October 10, strike drones attacked the Russian Khanskaya military air base in the Republic of Adygea.

The Astra Telegram channel published the videos of the incident from eyewitnesses.

The footage captures flashes and sounds of explosions and Russian air defense at the air base.

Also, in one video, locals can hear the sounds of jets taking off from the air base after the attack began, probably to avoid being hit by drones.

Russian social media users claim that it could have been Su-27 fighter jets and Su-34 bombers.

Following the reports of explosions, NASA’s satellite fire monitoring system detected a fire in the vicinity of the Russian airport.

In the morning, Murat Kumpilov, head of Adygea, confirmed the drone attack and claimed that the population of Rodnikovo, a nearby village, was being evacuated due to a fire near the air base.

It is stated that there were no casualties or injuries. Representatives of the special services, rescuers, and firefighters are at the scene to eliminate the fire.

Khanskaya military air base is located 3 km east of Khanskaya village, 6 km northwest of the city of Maikop, and approximately 80 kilometers from Krasnodar.

This air base of the aggressor country is located about 400 kilometers from the front line in eastern Ukraine.

Open sources confirm that the 272nd Training Aviation Base of the 2nd category of the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots, named after the Hero of the Soviet Union A.K. Serov, is deployed at this airfield.

With the outbreak of a full-scale war with Ukraine, the Russian military likely used this airbase, in particular, to base combat aircraft that could be used to strike at Ukrainian territory.
