The United States will purchase kits of the International Field Artillery Tactical Data System (IFATDS) for Ukraine.
The contract is published on the U.S. government’s System for Award Management website.
These sets of the International Field Artillery Tactical Data System (for the United States designation – AFATDS) are designed for М142 HIMARS missile systems.
The contract calls for the procurement of 18 such kits for U.S.-made missile systems supplied to Ukraine.
Presumably, they should be installed on 18 new М142 systems that should be manufactured for Ukraine under the USAI program.
IFATDS/AFATDS are designed to integrate and use information from various sources to create a common operational picture of fire support.
It is a network of computer workstations that process and share information. Data is transmitted from the forward operator to the unit that provides fire support.
Features include automatic handling of fire requests using customized controls, creating multiple tactical fire solutions, decentralized decision making, mission monitoring, and more.
IFATDS systems are also planned to be supplied to Taiwan and Latvia.
55 sets of the International Field Artillery Tactical Data System can be ordered for Riga.
Taiwan will have 16 IFATDS kits and this information indicates that an additional contract is planned in the United States to supply HIMARS to the island state.
Recall that in September, the Pentagon announced the transfer of 18 М142 HIMARS jet systems to Ukraine. These systems are not supplied from the reserves of the United States Army, and are newly manufactured.
