The U.S. military has successfully conducted new tests of the PrSM missile for the HIMARS rocket system.

Lockheed Martin announced that during the tests, the HIMARS system launched two PrSM missiles at medium range.

Both missiles accurately hit the target, confirming the system’s precision and combat effectiveness.

“PrSM demonstrates exceptional system performance and reliability,” stated a Lockheed Martin representative after the test.

The U.S. Army’s next-generation long-range precision strike missile, the PrSM, is capable of neutralizing targets at a distance of more than 400 kilometers.

Unlike the ATACMS missile, a single launch container for the M270 and M142 HIMARS can hold 2 PrSM missiles.

The open architecture gives the missile great modernization potential.

The U.S. Army is already considering two improved versions of the missile: PrSM Increment 2 with a multi-mode homing system, also known as the LBASM land-based anti-ship missile, and PrSM Increment 3 with an increased warhead while maintaining the range.

In addition, in 2023, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies-Northrop Grumman began developing projects for the PrSM Increment 4 missile with a range of more than 1,000 km.

The PrSM is expected to replace the MGM-140 ATACMS missile, which currently remains the main means of striking ground forces at tactical depth.

The new missile will provide a greater range of destruction using existing launchers.

In June, the United States successfully completed tests of short-range PrSM ballistic missiles against surface-moving targets.
