Information about destroyed Ka-52 attack helicopters appeared yesterday. The helicopters were destroyed at an airfield in the Pskov region of Russia.

According to the information of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, a strong explosion took place at the Veretye Air Base on the night of October 31.

According to intelligence, the explosion completely destroyed two Russian Ka-52 “Alligator” attack helicopters. Two more combat aircraft were seriously damaged.

Reports of explosions at the Russian military airfield were also released in the Russian media.

However, they noted that the explosion happened late in the evening on Sunday, October 30. According to their data, there were three explosions, as a result of which allegedly only two Ka-52 helicopters were damaged.

Anonymous Russian sources told the media that the helicopters were allegedly damaged only in their skins.

The damaged Ka-52s belonged to the 2nd squadron of the 17th Army Aviation Brigade of the Western Military District of the Russian Federation. The Russians do not report the causes of the explosions.

Subsequently, a video appeared on the Internet, which allegedly shows a saboteur placing explosive charges in a Russian Ka-52 helicopter parked in the airfield.

These frames were released in Telegram channel “Orestokratiya“. The video features a man preparing and placing explosives under one of the Alligators.

After analyzing the footage of the released video, the analysts of the Ukraine Weapons Tracker group reported that during the installation of the alleged explosive device in the Ka-52 helicopter, a trigger device with a mechanical delay VZD-6Ch (delay up to 6 hours) and a detonator MD-5M were used.

The Russians claim that these Ka-52s were allegedly not in flight condition and were undergoing planned maintenance in the technical and operational part.

The Russian attack helicopter Ка-52 has the ability to conduct reconnaissance of the area, target designation and coordination of actions of a group of combat helicopters. The vehicle is capable of striking armored and unarmored vehicles, manpower and aerial targets on the battlefield.
