Two British men have been charged of working for Russian intelligence services after arsons facility of two companies in London that are linked to Ukraine.

The fire occurred on March 20 in the industrial area of Leyton, 8 fire trucks and 60 rescuers were engaged in extinguishing it.

Counter Terrorism Command Officers from the London’s Metropolitan Police Service are led investigating the incident.

Records of the Companies House indicate that the target of Russians was two parcel delivery services – Oddisey and Meest UK.

The suspects in the arson are Dylan Earl, 20, and Jake Reeves, 22. Three other fire-related suspects have been detained on other charges.

Mr Earl is accused of planning to target the business, as well as attempting to recruit individuals to materially assist a foreign intelligence service, undertaking fraudulent activity and arson.

Mr Reeves is accused of accepting the money knowing it was from foreign intelligence service. The prosecution claims that this service was the private military company Wagner.

Mr Earl and Mr Reeves are the first people to be charged under a new law designed to update and modernise the offences of espionage, sabotage and foreign interference.

Three other defendants in the case were detained as part of the investigation, but were not charged under the national security law.

Dmitrijus Paulauska was charged having information about terrorist acts and failing to report it, which is a crime under the Terrorism Act 2000, and Nii Mensah and Paul English are charged with aggravated arson.

Militarnyi reported recently that the UK government had decided to increase the defense spending by 2030.

In general, it is planned to increase the defense budget to GBP 87 billion, which is 2.5% of GDP and will provide an opportunity to overcome the financial gap in the country’s armed forces.

Also, the increase in the budget will make it possible to transfer the country’s defense to a military basis and help Ukraine resist Russian aggression.
