Sweden and Denmark will jointly order Tridon Mk2 anti-aircraft gun systems for Ukraine, totaling approximately €226 million.

The defense ministers of both countries, Paul Jonsson and Troels Lund Poulsen, announced this at a joint press conference, according to SVT.

The financial package is distributed as follows: Sweden will allocate over €182 million, and Denmark will allocate the remaining €44 million. The total funding will enable the entire anti-aircraft battalion to be equipped.

The Tridon Mk2 systems are already in production, and their design has been specially adapted to Ukrainian needs. The first units are expected to arrive in Ukraine within a few months after the official order is placed.

The new anti-aircraft system from BAE Systems uses a 40 mm Bofors 40 Mk.4 cannon, which is equipped with a 100-round feed system. The installation itself is mounted on a Scania civilian truck with a 6×6 wheel configuration, which allows for rapid deployment using public roads.

The gun provides a maximum range of up to 13 km for air targets. The use of Bofors 3P programmable ammunition allows for the destruction of drones, cruise missiles, and helicopters with high accuracy, creating a cloud of debris directly in front of the target.

About a year ago, Sweden announced the transfer of RBS 70 air defense systems and Tridon systems to Ukraine, worth about €106.6 million.
