A chemical plant, TolyattiAzot, is on fire in Russia after being struck by attack drones.
According to local residents, videos from the scene have been published on the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
The attack on the facility in the city of Tolyatti, in Russia’s Samara region, occurred early in the morning on December 19.
According to local residents, the road leading to the facility has been blocked, and firefighters and emergency responders are working at the site with specialized equipment.
Videos published by eyewitnesses show a large-scale fire on the premises of the Russian facility.
The TolyattiAzot plant is one of the largest chemical plants in Russia and one of the world’s largest producers of ammonia.
The company’s main products include ammonia, urea, methanol, and other nitrogen-based chemicals. Its designed ammonia production capacity is approximately 3 million tons per year.
The enterprise is strategically important for Russia’s chemical industry and fertilizer exports, which generate revenue for its war against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces regularly carry out strikes on key facilities of the aggressor state.
In particular, on the night of December 17, attack drones targeted a Russian oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, located in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
Ukrainian Special Operations Forces drones also struck the Nikolaevskaya oil depot in the Rostov region, damaging a fuel tanker.
The oil depot is used to supply fuel to occupying forces in temporarily occupied Crimea.
