Joe Biden stated that the United States would make a military intervention if China attempts to invade Taiwan.

The President of the United States made this statement during a press conference in Tokyo, European Truth reports.

Biden was asked if the US would be willing to make a military intervention to aid Taiwan in the event of an invasion.

Biden replied:

“That’s the commitment we made.”

He also added that the use of force is not appropriate.

“We agreed on the One China policy. We signed on to it… but the idea that it can be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not appropriate,” he said.

In addition, Biden added that this is a “burden that is becoming stronger” after the invasion of Russia and Ukraine. He added that he does not expect China to attempt to seize Taiwan, but whether this could be avoided depends on whether the world will outline all the consequences to China.

China has responded to Biden’s statement.

“The Taiwan issue is a purely internal affair for China and brooks no interference from external forces. On issues touching on China’s core interests of the sovereignty and territorial integrity, China has no room for compromise or concession,” the statement reads.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry also noted that “No one should underestimate the firm resolve, staunch will and strong ability of the Chinese people in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“Don’t stand in opposition to 1.4 billion Chinese people,” added the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Previously, on May 21, U.S. President Joe Biden signed a law providing $40 billion in assistance to Ukraine by the end of the fiscal year 2022, that is, by September 30.
