The Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine handed over seized military goods to the needs of the Armed Forces.

The military received helmets, bulletproof vests, thermal imagers, quadcopters for a total amount of about 5 million hryvnias.

These goods were seized during a pre-trial investigation on the suspicion of a group of persons in the evasion of customs payments.

The perpetrators transported the cargo under the guise of humanitarian aid and planned to sell their goods on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the suspects bought military goods in the countries of the European Union.

In forged documents, the perpetrators indicated charitable organizations, including foreign ones as suppliers of goods. On behalf of these structures, the suspects processed the shipment of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

Later, these goods were sold on the territory of Ukraine at inflated prices.

In this way, the suspects evaded payment to the budget of customs payments in the total amount of 23 million hryvnias and legalized the property obtained through criminal means in the amount of 71.9 million hryvnias.

As previously reported, this is not the first time when equipment or weapons seized from criminals are handed over to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2021, the Security Service of Ukraine handed over a large batch of weapons, equipment and spare parts for equipment to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The weapons were recognized as material evidence in the proceedings of the SSU and were under arrest.

During the searches, weapons with a total weight of more than 500 tons were seized and handed over to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
