A platform has already been selected for the Navy of Ukraine, on which the first models of the Neptune (missile system) will be placed.

In 2022 Ukrainian Navy will received the first full-equipped “Neptune” battalion that will be combat ready in the spring.

The naval forces already have a maritime testing platform for Ukrainian anti-ship cruise missiles.

“Strike abilities are formed on three platforms – coastal, marine and aviation. We already have a maritime testing platform on which the first samples of “Neptune” will be placed”, said the Commander of the Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa.

This is necessary in order to accommodate the future marine version of the “Neptune”. It was reported that some equipment was purchased, the first so-called battalion is ready.

Oleksiy Neyzhpapa, the Rear Admiral of Ukraine Navy, also said that this project will be presented for public review in 2022.

Naval version

Recall that in June 2021 it became known that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ordered the development of a ship-borne version of the cruise missile R-360.

To finance the development of the ship-borne version of the missile R-360 of RK-360MTs “Neptune” system, as well as other systems, including the “Vilkha” system and self-propelled howitzer “Bogdana”, provides 5% of the amount of funding of the state defense order for 2021 from the total amount of 22.5 billion UAH.

Kyiv State Design Bureau “LUCH” is working on a ship-borne version of the missile R-360 of RK-360MTs “Neptune” system.

When asked about the course of work on the creation of a sea-borne version of the missile R-360 and with the clarification that Ukraine does not currently have a ship based on which it would be possible to test this type of missile weapons. The general designer replied:

“Development is underway. The issue of the ship is being discussed among the military. Our job is to develop. Where they will placed it is a question for them. We need another year and a half to complete the development of the marine version of Neptune”.
