Ukrainian forces are building a system of engineering barriers in the north of Ukraine to prevent possible offensive actions of the enemy.
A system of mine-explosive and non-explosive barriers is being built directly on the state border and in the depths of the defense.
The area is being mined and minefields are being created, along with anti-tank ditches on the roads and paths of the enemy’s probable advance.
Serhii Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reported this.
He emphasized that, as of now, the enemy is not ready to conduct offensive actions, but likely scenarios of the situation’s development are being considered.
“Based on the likely nature of the enemy’s actions, we are conducting a set of measures to ensure the readiness of the groups of troops defending the Northern operational zone for any enemy actions, starting with repelling air and missile strikes, as well as preventing the actions of his sabotage forces,” said Serhii Nayev.
Over the past 10 days, anti-tank minefields and barriers have been installed using more than 5,500 mines.
“About 1.5 thousand meters of trenches and 3.5 thousand meters of anti-tank ditches were dug along the state border. Several dozen covered trenches, shelters, and firing positions for personnel, as well as equipment’s firing positions, have been equipped,” Serhii Nayev said.
As previously reported, last autumn in the Kyiv region, the districts and lines of defense of Kyiv and the region started being equipped.
It is noted that places for shelter and accommodation of personnel are set up at platoon and company strongholds. They also set up fortifications to conduct a defensive battle.
