The federal government is ready to hand over seven PzH-2000 self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
This was reported by Welt citing its own sources.
It is noted that the decision was made despite the cautions being made by the German military command.
Previously, the military was critical of the decision about sending equipment to Ukraine due to the fact that only about 40 of the 119 Panzerhaubitze 2000 in the Bundeswehr are now on the move and can be used.
However, the German government had ignored these remarks.
This regards the seven Panzerhaubitzen 2000 ACS, which will be handed over to Ukraine. The Ukrainian servicemen will be trained in Germany.
The publication also notes that Ukraine will receive 5 ACS from the Netherlands.
Last week, the German Bundestag supported the provision of heavy weapons to Ukraine. This regards the 50 Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns.
PzH-2000 is a 155-mm closed-type gun on a crawler chassis, built on the basis of components and units of the “Leopard-2” tank.
For firing, the NATO countries’ armies are using separate-loading rounds. It is equipped with a muzzle brake, an ejector, the gun barrel with a rifled channel has a length of 52 calibers, and is equipped with a charging chamber.
