Russia is threatening to prevent the transfer of S-300 air defense systems from Slovakia to Ukraine.

According to the Foreign Minister of the country-aggressor Sergei Lavrov, the transfer of S-300 from other countries to Ukraine is illegal. Moscow will not allow such actions, writes “European Pravda” with reference to the minister’s interview with russian media.

The minister of the invading country said that soviet and russian air defense systems could not be transferred to other countries.

He also noted that several countries believe that they can request air defense systems from NATO members who still have soviet-made assets.

“I would like to remind all countries that may consider this idea that soviet and russian-made systems are there in accordance with intergovernmental agreements and contracts, which also have a user certificate. And this certificate does not allow to send them to other countries, – Lavrov said.

He also added that all cargo imported into Ukraine with Western weapons would become the target of the russian invaders.

Recently different media outlets reported that Slovakia had previously agreed to provide Ukraine with an S-300 SAM air defense system to protect against Russian airstrikes.

However, Slovakia wants guarantees that their air defense systems will be immediately replaced.

If Slovakia provides its S-300s to Ukraine, it expects to receive an American-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.

S-300 is a medium-range anti-aircraft missile system (AMS) (Sa-10 according to NATO classification). It has been a part of the USSR’s military arsenal since 1972. It was designed for the air defense of large industrial and administrative facilities, military bases, and airspace control against enemy strike aircraft.

The complex is capable of destroying missile targets. S-300 became the first anti-aircraft missile system that could track up to six targets and launch up to 12 missiles on them.
