The Ukrainian military believes that the visit of Serhiy Shoigu, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, to Belarus was of a demonstrative nature. They also note that there is no data on the creation of a group of troops that could participate in the war against Ukraine.
Yevhen Sylkin, Spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, mentioned this on the air of the national telethon.
At the same time, Belarus is ready to continue supporting the Russian Federation with equipment.
“However, it (the visit – Ed.) showcased that Belarus is ready to supply protective and medical equipment for the joint group of regional troops. In the future, joint training of this group will probably take place, and joint control points will be created,” Yevhen Sylkin shared.
Sylkin also noted that the formation of the Southern Operational Command, which should “restrain the offensive from Ukraine,” is already ongoing in Belarus.
The Spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that there is confirmation that Russian drones, both reconnaissance and strike, are based on Belarusian airfields. In addition, S-300 and S-400 air defense systems are being deployed there.
“There is a possibility that they will be used to launch missile strikes against Ukraine, in particular on the Volyn region and Polissia,” Sylkin concluded.
Yesterday, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Minsk, where he met with Alexander Lukashenko and Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin.
During the meeting, amendments to the agreement on ensuring regional security in the military field were made, and details of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Previously, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shared how many Belarusian military personnel is ready to join the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian invaders.
Approximately 15,000 Belarusian soldiers are ready to fight against Ukraine. This is due to the high monetary compensation that the military could receive upon participation in hostilities.
In addition, according to the estimates of the Ukrainian side, over 9,000 Russian soldiers are currently stationed in the territory of Belarus.
