The firepower of the 3rd Assault Brigade’s artillery division has been enhanced with long-range 155 mm Bohdana-BG guns made in Ukraine.

The 2nd Artillery Division released footage of the new equipment.

The brigade artillery unit has received at least two 155 mm Bohdana-BG trailed artillery systems, as evidenced by the photos on the unit’s official page.

Thanks to its long 52-caliber barrel, the new weapon is expected to become a “long arm” for the artillery of the 3rd Assault Brigade, which until recently had fewer long-range systems such as the British AS-90 or Soviet Msta-B and Giatsint-B.

Judging by the reported total of 3,000 rounds fired by the two “named” guns, Tysha and Valkyrie, they were delivered several months ago.

“Tysha and Valkyrie are not just call signs. These are the names of our fallen comrades who remain with us forever – in our hearts, in the ranks, in every shot,” the unit’s soldiers share.

It is noteworthy that in the video, Ukrainian artillerymen are arming the gun with a basic type of 155 mm shells, which researcher Jeff2146 identified as Western L15A1s with a CHG M4A1/A2 powder charge produced by the Turkish company ARCA.

The maximum table range of such a projectile from a Bohdana is 30-31 kilometers when fully charged.

Bohdana-B

The Bohdana-BG is a trailed version of the artillery system that was developed for the self-propelled howitzer of the same name. Its prototype was first publicly presented at the end of last year, but work on it has been underway since at least December 2023.

The start of deliveries of serial samples to the Ukrainian army became known in March this year, when they were spotted in service with the 47th Artillery Brigade. Soon after, other artillery and mechanized brigades, as well as units of the National Guard, joined the user club.

In total, between the beginning and July 2025, at least five batches of Bohdana-BG trailer howitzers were delivered to the army.

The technical characteristics of the Bohdana-BG are not publicized, but it uses the same artillery unit with an identical barrel, which ensures that it retains the same ballistics as the self-propelled Bohdana.

Currently, the Ukrainian artillery manufacturer is using old Soviet carriages from decommissioned Giatsint-B guns to quickly scale up production. However, by the end of 2025, the howitzer is to receive a new Ukrainian-made carriage.
