The Swedish medevac Bandvagn 202 articulated tracked vehicle has been transferred to the Territorial Defense Forces.
The special vehicle went to the soldiers of the 118 Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Cherkasy region.
The military have also received other vehicles, such as Japanese, German and Korean SUVs, minibuses and special vehicles.
Entrepreneurs from Cherkasy and the Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration Ihor Taburets joined the initiative for the transfer of vehicles.
Having undergone routine maintenance, all vehicles are in good condition, and many of them were repainted in camouflage green.
Colonel Anatolii Stuzhenko, Commander of the 118th Separate Brigade, expressed gratitude to the Head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration and entrepreneurs.
“These modern and high-speed vehicles for the army are a powerful contribution to our victory over the Russian invaders,” said Anatolii Stuzhenko.
Among the transferred vehicles, the Swedish Bandvagn 202 articulated tracked vehicle in the sanitary version stands unique and distinctive.
BV 202 articulated tracked vehicle is designed for work in cold weather and on soft soil and has proven well under such conditions.
The 3.5 ton BV 202 is a special military transport vehicle developed by the Swedish company Bolinder-Munktell (founded in 1932) in accordance with the requirements of the Swedish Army. The series went into production in 1964 and ended in 1981.
Common design comprises front and rear cabins connected by a flexible central section. The undercarriage includes five support rollers on board both the front and rear vehicles.
The front cabin accommodates an engine, as well as a seat for the driver and the vehicle’s commander. The aft cockpit is used to transport a total of eight infantrymen. The Bandvagn 202 hull does not provide standard weapons, and the windows are designed for a certain level of situational awareness.
