Targeted Electronics Plant Fulfilled Over 2,000 Orders for Russian Defense Industry

The damaged Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant fulfilled over 2,000 orders for the Russian defense industry.

As a result of the drone strike and the ensuing fire, the production facility used for assembling and manufacturing electronic components was completely destroyed.

The equipment used in production also suffered severe damage: a significant part was burned, and the shockwave from the explosion destroyed other areas of the facility.

As Russian media previously reported, the plant manufactures around 200 types and ratings of electronic components. The electronic components produced by the Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant are developed and supplied for all types of weaponry to more than 560 enterprises in the defense and aerospace industries.

Additionally, it is noted that the plant has over 2,000 contracts under the state defense order. According to Vladimir Fedosov, the chief designer of semiconductor products, more than 30 types of products were created in 2022 in this direction, which are used in special equipment for the Ministry of Defense of Russia.

It should be noted that the Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant has a number of major clients within the state defense order of the Russian Federation. In particular, JSC Central Design Bureau of Automatics has signed 11 contracts with the enterprise worth over RUB 74 million.

The KA Volodin Instrument Engineering Plant Federal State Unitary Enterprise also has six contracts worth over RUB 58 million. The Scientific and Production Center for Automation and Instrument Engineering has signed five contracts worth nearly RUB 58 million. The Ufa Instrument-Making Production Association has 14 contracts totaling over RUB 55 million.

The largest number of contracts — 43 contracts — was signed by the Polyus Scientific Research Institute for a total amount of over RUB 49 million.

It is worth separately highlighting the KA Volodin Instrument Engineering Plant Federal State Unitary Enterprise, one of the leading enterprises of the Rosatom State Corporation. This enterprise’s main activity is the nuclear munition production.

Meanwhile, the Scientific Production Association of Automation and Instrument-Building is the only enterprise in Russia that executes the full cycle of developing control systems for missile and space technology — from creating the theory to production, testing, and maintenance. The Ufa Instrument-Making Production Association specializes in automatic control systems for flying vehicles, onboard computing complexes, and equipment for the aviation industry.

The Polyus Scientific Research Institute develops onboard and ground electrical equipment for communication satellites, Earth observation satellites, and deep space exploration. In addition, the enterprise creates shipboard electric drives, low-noise fans, and high-precision induction sensors for modern aviation technology.

Governor Andrei Klichkov also confirmed the damage to the plant.

“According to updated information, as a result of a massive enemy attack by unmanned aerial vehicles, several private residential houses and the building of the Bolkhov Semiconductor Device Plant were damaged in the city of Bolkhov. Currently, work is ongoing at the scene to eliminate the consequences of the attack. There are no casualties,” the regional head shared.

As previously reported, explosions were recorded at the enterprise’s premises on the morning of May 21, 2025. Later, photos appeared on social media, published by local residents, showing a fire in one of the production buildings on Vasily Ermakov Street in the city of Bolkhov.

The enterprise specializes in the development and production of semiconductors and other electronic components, which are also used in Russian electronic warfare systems.
