The Ukrainian military has destroyed the Strela-10 short-range surface-to-air missile system in the Donetsk region with a precise strike.

The footage of the defeat of the Russian air defense system was published by the 56th Motorized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Strela-10 SAM was spotted by a Ukrainian drone at a disguised position in a wooded area.

According to analysts monitoring the course of hostilities of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the SAM of the Russian invasion forces was destroyed near the village of Vershyna in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.

The Russians placed a disguised position among a stretch of wooded terrain.

However, the system was spotted by a Ukrainian reconnaissance drone, which then adjusted the artillery fire.

To defeat the Strela-10 SAM, Ukrainian forces likely used a high-precision GMLRS M30A1 rocket munition from the HIMARS or M270 MLRS.

The video shows a characteristic air blast and damage to the area with pre-formed tungsten fragments.

After hitting the SAM, the ammunition detonated with the release of a large amount of characteristic thick white smoke.

A spread of anti-aircraft missiles also began. The Russian air defense system was probably completely destroyed.

Strela-10 is designed to destroy air targets at close range and low altitudes.

The base of the system is the 9А34 combat vehicle, which is made on the chassis of the MT-LB light tracked armored tractor.
