The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the network of hostile Internet agents calling for seizure of power in Ukraine.

During the investigative actions, the Ukrainian intelligence agency exposed the interregional network of hostile agents who, through the Internet, the perpetrators spread calls to change the limits of the state boundaries and to overthrow the constitutional order in Ukraine, the SSU press service reported.

To carry out information operations, the offenders set up cells across the country, from Donetsk to Transcarpathia, and used dozens of fake accounts.

The Internet agents reposted content from Russian propaganda websites and distributed it through social networks, including those banned in Ukraine.

According to the SSU, the subversive activities of the enemy’s agents were coordinated by Russian special services. Their aim was to destabilize the internal political situation in various regions of Ukraine.

In particular, in Mariupol, the SSU Cyber Department exposed a local resident who used banned social networks to agitate for violating territorial integrity of Ukraine. Also, the man called for an aggressive war against our country and popularized a militant group of the temporarily occupied territories. In addition, he was also looking for ‘supporters’ to recruit and engage in illegal activities. The offender has been notified of suspicion of crimes.

In Kropyvnytskyi, Ukrainian secret service exposed a representative of a local NGO, who online called for takeover of power in Ukraine. He also tried to carry out subversive activity among locals to destabilize the internal situation in the region. The SSU investigators notified the intruder of suspicion of offence under Article 109.2 of the CCU.

In Zakarpattia region, a group of hostile Internet agents, organized by two locals was suspended. They spread propaganda calling to change the borders of our state. The forensic linguistic examination initiated by the SSU confirmed public calls to criminal actions. As part of the criminal proceedings, both perpetrators were notified of suspicion of crime under Article 110.1 of the CCU.

Disclosure of unlawful activity

During searches of the perpetrators’ places of residence of all the above-mentioned persons, the law enforcement found computer equipment, electronic media and communication devices with evidence of criminal activity.

Investigations are underway to bring to justice all those involved in crimes against the state security of Ukraine.

The SSU officers in Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Donetsk and Luhansk regions was carried out the exposure of unlawful activity under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
