The 3rd Rapid Reaction Brigade “Spartan” of the National Guard of Ukraine has received BTR-4E armored personnel carriers.

Recently, the Brigade’s soldiers conducted exercises with these BTR-4E armored personnel carriers in the Kharkiv region.

The soldiers trained to drive and evacuate BTR-4E armored personnel carriers at one of the training ranges.

This “Spartan” brigade was known from the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine: they rebuffed the enemy’s attempts to break into the city of Kharkiv.

The soldiers of the Brigade also participated in the operation to liberate Mala Rohan, Tsyrkuny and Kutuzivka.

In cooperation with detachments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Brigade continues to defend the city of Kharkiv, Kharkiv, and part of the Luhansk regions and holds positions in the Toretsk district of the Donetsk region.

During the hostilities, the Brigade destroyed a significant amount of manpower and military equipment belonging to the aggressor. In particular, they demolished four enemy tanks on the bypass road near Kharkiv on the first day of defense and a Su-25 attack aircraft, the pilot of which was detained.

The transferred Ukrainian-made BTR-4E armored personnel carriers should strengthen the combat capabilities of the Brigade.

BTR-4E was adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2012. The baptism of fire for BTR-4E happened in June 2014, during the anti-terrorist operation in the Slovyansk area.

BTR-4E APC is an armored, wheeled, 4-axis amphibious combat vehicle, on the basis of which a group of vehicles was created (command, mobile command post, medical, armored recovery vehicle, etc.).

This armored personnel carrier is a purely Ukrainian development of the full cycle: “from scratch” to putting it into service.

The concept of an armored vehicle was developed in the early 2000s by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau. Serial production began in 2008.
