The Spanish government will allocate €1 billion in military aid to Ukraine in 2025.

The Babel media outlet reported on this with reference to the words of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez during the International Summit in Support of Ukraine in Kyiv.

The new military aid package will include military equipment, artillery ammunition and other military equipment that Ukraine will receive in 2025.

He also noted that Spain supported Ukraine’s sovereignty and that only Ukraine had the right to determine its future.

“Madrid supports the need to achieve peace, but peace cannot be reduced to a ceasefire – it must be long-term, just and comprehensive,” the newspaper quoted Prime Minister Sánchez as saying.

He also emphasized that Ukraine should’ve been present during discussions on ending the war, as it concerned Ukraine, and it should’ve put forward its own conditions.

Spain actively supports Ukraine with military aid packages, including armored vehicles, ammunition, and artillery.

The country donated 20 Leopard 2A4 tanks to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were repaired and restored at the Santa Bárbara Sistemas plant in Sevilla.

In addition, Spain has provided Ukraine with a battery of Hawk anti-aircraft missile systems.

Spain was the first country to transfer MIM-23 Hawk air defense missile systems in 2022.

They are also being supplied by the United States. The Ukrainian air defense uses these SAMs to protect cities and strategic sites from Russian cruise missiles and drones.

Militarnyi previously reported that Spain had joined the IT Coalition and the Maritime Capabilities Coalition to provide defense capabilities for Ukraine.
