Deviro has unveiled a new development—the SOKYRA interceptor drone designed to shoot down Russian strike drones.

The presentation took place at the “Protection of Infrastructure and Industry” forum, a Militarnyi’s correspondent reports.

SOKYRA is currently in alpha testing as a prototype.

What is known about the SOKYRA interceptor drone

Currently, the interceptor has a speed of 240 km/h, a range of 45 km, and can stay in the air for 30 minutes. The combat unit the drone is equipped with weighs 750 g.

All these parameters are subject to change as the drone is being refined.

“All manufacturers will try to make their product faster… Right now, we are declaring 240 km/h. This is at the alpha testing stage. I can’t share more about this, but the fact that we want to fly faster is a fact,” the Head of marketing at Deviro shared with Militarnyi.

He also emphasized that the interceptor will be as autonomous as possible. It will be launched from a pneumatic catapult that can be installed on a pickup truck. The software used is the same as in the Leleka reconnaissance UAV and the Bulava strike drone.

SOKYRA uses an inertial system and autopilot. The interceptor is also already integrated with separate radar systems and software solutions that provide target designation. In addition, the system is equipped with an auto-detonator.

“Everything is as autonomous as possible — two operators, two laptops. The radar locks onto the target, which is visually identified. We have a thermal imaging camera, and the Shahed is very visible in the air. We lock onto it, press the ‘Attack’ button, and wait for the strike,” a company representative shared.

Deviro will also provide training for pilots to operate interceptors, similar to the training that Leleka and Bulava pilots receive at the company’s school.
