Ukraine received aircraft equipment and ammunition from Slovakia as support in the defense against Russia’s aggression.
This was announced by Jaroslav Naď, Minister of Defense of Slovakia, as per Aktuality reports.
Slovakia has handed over to Ukraine four Mi-17 multi-purpose transport helicopters and one Mi-2.
In addition to helicopters, Ukraine also received 122-mm ammunition for the BM-21 Grad MLRS.
The aid was approved by the Slovakia government. After the safe transfer, the helicopters are already being used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The European Peace Facility will reimburse the worth of the military assistance in the form of helicopters.
“This assistance to Ukraine, like all previous supplies, will be reimbursed to Slovakia by the European Peace Facility, which is a strong manifestation of the European Union’s solidarity with Ukraine,” – he said, adding that the helicopters are already in Ukraine.
It was previously reported that Slovakia will not only be repairing the equipment for the Ukrainian military but will also undertake its modernization.
The retrofit works will be done at the KONŠTRUKTA-Defence repair plant in the Slovak city of Moldava nad Bodvou.
KONŠTRUKTA-Defence is a manufacturer of Zuzana 2 ACS. The contract for the supply of eight Zuzana 2 155 mm self-propelled howitzers was announced by Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď in early June.
Earlier, it was also reported that the Ukrainian military was already mastering these wheeled self-propelled howitzers.
The supply of Zuzana 2 ACS will replenish the Ukrainian army with another 155mm artillery system along with the M109, CAESAR, AHS Krab, M777, FH-70, and the upcoming Panzerhaubitze 2000.
