A new batch of French 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled howitzers is on its way to Ukraine.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive six CAESAR self-propelled howitzers in the near future.

Speaking at a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces of the French Senate, Colonna said that 12 such howitzers have already been delivered to Ukraine.

The estimated date of arrival of the ACS on the territory of Ukraine has not been specified.

“We decided not to report all our military contributions and leave this information to our partners,” Catherine Colonna said.

With the arrival of the new batch to Ukraine, the Ukrainian servicemen will have 18 French CAESAR howitzers at its disposal.

Emmanuel Macron promised this additional batch of self-propelled howitzers on June 16 during a visit to the Ukrainian capital.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Paris has delivered to Kyiv, in addition to self-propelled howitzers, Milan anti-tank missiles and Mistral anti-aircraft missiles.

In late June, Sébastien Lecornu, French Defense Minister, stated that France would be transferring “significant quantities” of French-made armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

Also, French company Matiere will hand over to Ukraine 36 prefabricated bridges with a length of 23 to 46 meters for the restoration of the destroyed infrastructure.

CAESAR is a French 155-mm self-propelled howitzer designed for the destruction of manpower, artillery batteries, as well as providing passages through minefields and field barriers.

Barrel length – 52 calibers. The maximum firing range is 42 km. Fire rate – 6 shots per minute.
