Serbia demonstrated a new heavy missile system at a recent military parade.
The news was published by Defence Blog.
The system, created by the state-owned company Yugoimport SDPR, is positioned as a modular long-range self-propelled launcher designed to hit important targets deep behind enemy lines.
The design provides for flexible configuration and the ability to select missiles depending on the mission.
In the basic configuration, the Šumadija carries one container with two 400 mm Jerin ballistic missiles.
Each has a range of up to 300 kilometers and a warhead weighing approximately 250 kilograms.
In parallel, the second container is designed for the Vila-1 munition, a heavy projectile with an approximate range of up to 300 kilometers and a warhead weighing about 450 kilograms.
This combination allows the system to fulfill various tactical roles: from precision strikes against selected targets to heavier strikes to destroy fortified or critical targets.
The modularity of the launch containers allows for the rapid change of ammunition sets depending on the combat situation.
In the presentation, Yugoimport SDPR emphasizes that the Šumadija meets the modern requirements of the battlefield, where the need for both fast and powerful strikes is growing.
Recently, it was reported that the PULS multiple launch rocket systems purchased from Israel had been spotted in Serbia during the preparation of equipment for a parade.
The PULS missile systems for the Serbian army are mounted on Czech Tatra Force 6×6 trucks with transport and launch containers for EXTRA missiles.
