In Ukraine, the night of April 1, 2025, passed without Russian Shahed strike drones attacks.
This is indicated by the absence of reports about using enemy UAVs on the Ukrainian Air Force’s official page. It is also noted by the monitoring channel monitor, which tracks Russian airstrikes on Ukraine.
This night became the second of the year when the Russians refrained from using strike UAVs.
On the official resources of the Ukrainian Air Force, only the threat of aviation strike assets was mentioned.
Throughout the night, the enemy actively used gliding aerial bombs on the borders of the Sumy region, Zaporizhzhia region, and Donetsk region.
It is currently unknown what caused this step by the aggressor country. The last time there were reports about the absence of Shahed drones in Ukrainian airspace was on March 14 this year.
In their monthly report, the Air Force stated that during March 2025, the air defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 4,043 enemy aerial targets.
One Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missile, 25 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles, 8 Kalibr cruise missiles, 1 Iskander-K cruise missile, and 1 Kh-59/69 guided missile were intercepted.
In addition, 2,328 Shahed strike drones, 805 reconnaissance drones, and 874 other types of drones were destroyed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that just last week, the enemy used over 1,000 strike drones, nine rockets of various types, and 1,310 guided aerial bombs.
During one of these attacks, on the evening of March 29, a Russian Shahed kamikaze drone struck a military hospital in Kharkiv. As a result of the strike, the hospital building and nearby residential houses were damaged.
In February, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that the Russians had significantly upgraded the Shahed and Gerbera drones.
