Satellite Images Show Ukrainian Missile Strike on Energia Plant in Yelets

Satellite images have been released showing the damage caused by a strike on the “Energia” plant on the night of January 4 in the city of Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast.

Preliminary reports indicate that a missile hit a production facility at the plant, according to the Telegram channel Dnipro OSINT.

The plant is one of Russia’s key producers of autonomous power supplies for aviation, maritime, and river vessels, as well as for emergency communication and radio-technical systems.

It specializes in the manufacture of chemical power sources used in military applications, including UMPK kits installed on Russian bombs.

These modules make it possible to convert unguided aerial munitions into guided weapons, which are actively used by Russian forces against Ukraine.

It is known that the Energia plant is involved in the cooperative production of the UMPB D-30SN. As part of this cooperation, it supplies JSC Petrovsky Electromechanical Plant Molot with 9B-287 batteries used to equip UB-UMPB battery units.

In addition, the facility supplies power components designated 9B280-1 for the 9M727 cruise missile, which is part of the Iskander-K operational-tactical missile system.

This was not the first attack on the plant. In May 2025, satellite imagery confirmed extensive damage to one of Energia’s workshops as a result of multiple strikes by attack drones.

The first strike on the facility occurred on the night of May 23, 2025, when a group of around a dozen long-range drones attacked the production site.

According to eyewitnesses, at least several drones reached their targets. Footage released by local residents showed a damaged building at the plant.

According to the ASTRA Telegram channel, the strike caused a fire in one of the plant’s workshops, and nine employees of the enterprise were injured.

On the night of May 24, attack drones struck the Russian Energia plant again. Local residents reported seeing drones in the sky over the city of Yelets, followed by explosions.
